Berichtdefinitie (Ingebedde metadata bij foto's)
Als metadata binnen het bestand zelf worden bewaard, gebeurt dat in de vorm van '''ingebedde metadata''' (embedded metadata). Omdat de metadata dan gekoppeld is aan het digitaal bestand in kwestie, kunnen de metadata en de beschreven inhoud niet meer van elkaar gescheiden worden. Het digitale bestand is als het ware zelfbeschrijvend geworden.
