De Department of Arts belongs to the policy domain Culture, Youth and Media (CYM). The Department of Arts is the executor of the arts policy of the Flemish Government.
De afdeling Kunsten draagt als uitvoerder van het beleid van de Vlaamse overheid, actief bij aan de ontwikkeling van een kwalitatief en divers (professioneel) kunstenlandschap.
De afdeling Kunsten heeft als taken:
- erkennen, subsidiëren en toezicht houden
- ondersteunen van commissies
- netwerken binnen de beleidsvelden (nationaal en internationaal)
- beleidsvoorbereiding en beleidsevaluatie
- aansturen van het Frans Masereelcentrum
