* Ingebedde metadata verbeteren de vindbaarheid van digitale bestanden. Via zoekprogramma’s kan je bijvoorbeeld naar specifieke metadata zoeken.
* Wanneer je digitale bestanden verspreidt voor (her)gebruik, worden de ingebedde metadata vaak samen met de digitale bestanden verspreid. De (her)gebruiker kan op die manier achterhalen wie of wat er op de foto staat afgebeeld, wie de maker van de foto is en onder welke voorwaarden hij de foto mag (her)gebruiken.
